Pinot Picasso adult painting class: Thursday and Friday nights throughout the summer 7:00-9:30PM. No experience necessary. All supplies included. You must register before the scheduled class. Minimum 5 students.

Popcorn Picasso is a painting class for the whole family! In this fun, laid back painting class, we'll work on several small canvases rather than one large canvas. Each family member will paint a canvas and all the paintings will go together in some way when you're done! Wednesday nights 7:00-8:30. Class fee: $15 per person.

I have two main categories of work (although I often paint things that fall outside of these categories when the mood strikes me).  The first is my "Tree of Life" collection.  Trees of life often appear in folklore, culture and fiction, often relating to immortality or fertility. My trees are painted in an abstract manner with intricate detail.  Some are painted by placing tiny dots of paint all over the surface of the canvas.  Others are painted by incorporating geometric shapes into the tree form.  My second category of painting is a fun collection of work based on El Dia de Los Muertos (The Day of the Dead).  These are a lighthearted celebration of the traditional Mexican holiday that falls on November 1st and 2nd of each year.  Or, you can celebrate El Dia de Los Muertos as I do -- all year long.

I have my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Southern Virginia University, where my focus was in figure drawing and multimedia art, but I love trying new things in my art. I explore all different art mediums, techniques, and styles. I'm a strong believer in the therapeutic qualities of the creative experience for the artist and art viewer. I work with acrylic paints to depict whimsical scenes with high contrast, interesting textures, and always lots of color! Check out my portfolio here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/28940775@N06/.

  Laura Durrand

I am from both Scottsdale, Arizona where I lived for 13 years and from Austin, Texas.  I went to Arizona State University and Texas State University, but got my Bachelor of Fine Art from Texas State University.  My BFA was with a focus in Fibers art, but I love all art from Metals, Sculpture, Ceramics, Painting (acrylic), Drawing and Photography. I am a travel fanatic, and have had the fortune to travel to many countries over the world. I now currently live in the beautiful city of Austin, Texas and love all the amazing art and friendly people.  I love being able to teach art to kids, and showing them new methods and techniques that they wouldn’t normally get in a classroom setting. I like to be able to think outside of the box and explore new methods of creating art alongside my students.
