2008 Summer Camp
Entering K-5th Grade: Magical Mystery Tour All Aboard! Our version of “Around the world in 50 days” sends campers on a journey across the globe. Each week campers set off for a new destination, get a stamp in their passport and have fun learning about different cultures and places through mosaic, paper crafts, sculpture, painting, fiber arts and other creative techniques.
Travel itinerary:
Camp hours are 10am-2pm, Monday – Friday. Campers should bring a lunch, drink and snack each day. Fridays at 1:15pm parents are invited to attend our artist showcase which highlights the week’s projects. Camp fee: $185 per week. Print and complete 2008 Summer Camp Registration Form Entering 6-8th Grade: All You Need Is Art Each week of camp focuses on specific arts and crafts media. Campers will work one–on-one with the instructors to develop their art and crafting skills in such areas as room décor, mosaics, paper crafting, jewelry making, needle crafting, and much more. Week 1: June 9 - June 13 - Give Your Old Room a New Look: This session is all about changing your room to match your personality. You’ll choose a color palette and try different techniques to paint walls and furniture, update knobs and switches, and make really cool accessories to make your room YOU! $50 for supply kit.
Week 2: June 16 - June 20 - Mad for Mosaics: Develop your mosaic skills as you learn to work with tile and glass. We’ll experiment with different designs and see how to change the look by changing materials and grout color. You’ll make several pieces over the course of the week. $65 for supply kit.
Week 3: June 23 - June 27 - Paper Crafting I: Explore the latest trends in paper crafting. You’ll be amazed with what you can make with paper! Try 3-D art, kirigami, quilling, stamping, embossing, stenciling, & punch art. $45 for supply kit.
Week 4: July 7- July 11 - Ready-Made RAVE: Turn your old clothes into trendy wear! Learn basic hand and machine sewing, try embellishment tools, and play with fun fabrics all to transform your used clothes to new! Bring a t-shirt and pair of jeans to alter. $40 for supply kit.
Week 5: July 14 - July 18 - Beads & Bling: Learn earn how to make your own jewelry! Learn tricks for stringing, wire wrapping, and crimping beads. You will use special jewelry-making tools to make a variety of fashion accessories. $50 for supply kit.
Week 6: July 21 - July 25 - Needle Crafting: You will work with different types of yarn, threads, and fabrics to create cool personal and room accessories. Explore the arts of wool felting, quilting, embroidery, knitting and, crocheting. $45 for supply kit.
Session 7: July 28 - August 1 - Paper Crafting II: Explore more trends in paper crafting! Using vibrant prints, we will try paper quilting techniques, build an origami portfolio, design cool envelopes, tags, & labels, and play with stamps and embossing tools. $45 for supply kit.
Session 8: August 4 - August 8 - Back to School In Style: Design your own backpack, pencil case, and locker decorations. Learn funky ways to make your study area organized and colorful using paint, paper, and tiles! $40 for supply kit.
Session 9: August 11 – August 15 - Got Game?: Make your very own, full-size board games including My-Monopoly, a checkerboard game table, and personalized game pieces. $50 for supply kit.
Session 10: August 18 – August 22 - Mad for Mosaics: We’ll experiment with different designs and see how to change the look by changing materials and grout color. You’ll complete several large projects over the course of the week. $65 for supply kit. Camp hours are 10am-2pm, Monday – Friday. Campers should bring a lunch, drink and snack each day. Important Information Payment is due at the time of registration. Please complete a registration form for each camper. Print and complete the 2008 Summer Camp Registration Form Register in person at the studio, or mail your check and registration forms to: marmalade skies 13450 Research Blvd. #229 Austin, TX 78750. For mail-in registrations, we will process credit cards over the phone. Late Registration Policy: There is a $25 late registration fee for any registration received within 3 days of the camp session. Cancellation policy: If cancellation is received 7 days prior to the start of the session, your payment will be refunded, less a $50 processing fee. Cancellations received within 72 hours of the session are not eligible for a refund. marmalade skies reserves the right to change the program at any time.
